Have you ever been a part of a community so large that you wonder how significant you really are? Visit any league in your city, look up just about any cornhole group on Facebook, any bag makers Fan Page, even the Raffle and Wheel Spin pages.

Everyday you will see a charity tournament for someone battling cancer, a raffle to help raise funds for a deceased member of a team or league, a wheel spin for highly sought-after bags for a child in the of midst a rare disease, a forty-foot airmail box challenge to help raise funds for a neighbor who lost their home to a fire…the list goes on and on.

The BEST people in the world play cornhole.

I have seen nearly every bag maker make special sets of bags for these types fundraisers and help promote the fundraising as well. Boards makers spend countless hours making sets of boards for tournaments and raffles with usually little to no recognition. League directors or commissioners that dedicate personal resources to put the charity tournaments together and spend dozens of hours away from their families to help others’ families. Jersey makers designing tribute jerseys and donating them to the various causes. All these types of people do not ask for anything in return. Thousands of dollars have been raised for hundreds, if not thousands of people.

So the next time you register for a tournament, buy spot #2 on a wheel spin for a set of Romans, buy a tribute jersey or buy a raffle for that sweet set of boards being raffled off by your favorite board maker; remember the reason and not the cost associated with it, remember the cause that you are supporting and be sure to remember all the people that were involved in making the event, the fundraiser or the product available.

So remember the question posed at the beginning of this article, the one asking about how significant you are in a certain community: you are much more significant than you may think, but together, we have so MUCH more SIGNIFICANCE as a whole. Lets continue to grow the sport, be kind and generous, and maintain the culture that is so amazing in cornhole.

Disclaimer: As no one with skin in the game, please keep in mind and remember all these generous people the next time you need to make a cornhole related purchase, they would definitely appreciate it. The opinions and suggestions in this article are of my own and have nothing to do with Killshots Cornhole or its subsidiaries.
